Medieval Festival @ Balingup

Time for a bit of fun & head to Balingup for the Medieval festival which runs over the weekend. The towns folk really did a great job turning the town into a medieval fayr. $10 each into the festival, stalls selling clothes, helmets, chain mail vests, swords, etc etc. Choirs on centre stage singing old traditional songs from the dark ages. Everyone really got into the spirit of the festival & dressed with great flair, from Kings & Queens, to ladies of the court, soldiers, crusaders, Friar tucks & the list goes on. FANTASTIC ATMOSPHERE

Jan & The Bad Piper

Can you believe that after the final of AGT show, he hasn't had any offers of work or record contracts. Still busking on weekends in Fremantle!!!! What a shame that no-one has offered him any work. He is a great guy & full of personality. Told us he spent 8 years at the private school SCOTS College in Perth to end a PUNK BAGPIPER!!!!

Bob the Fireman

Our hosts Karen & Ross arrived home from the Gold coast on Saturday 21st Aug & it was time to hit the road again for week. They will be off again on Saturday 28th Aug after they have packed up their caravan, metal detector, dog "Cassie" & sister Robyn & her hubby Gordon & off to Meekatharra to do some gold prospecting

After a couple days free camping at Chapman Pool & Alexander Bridge.
Off we went to stay with friends Di & Mike in Nannup. Mike was training the neighbour on driving the Bush fire brigade tanker. Bob went along for the ride while they did some bush bashing along the fire trails.

Dress rehearsal for the Medieval festival

Recognise this bloke !!!! Doesn't he look cute in his outfit, with bells & whistle on his hat!!!! Check out the slippers!!!

The local IGA supermarket in Augusta bought one of the brightly coloured cows from the "Cow parade" that ran from March to June in the Margaret river area & then they were auctioned off for local charities. It's great when you walk into the shop & see the cow standing in middle of all the fresh vegetables.

Purple wildflowers that were out in abundance at Chapman pool campsite.

Hamelin bay is about 20kms from where we are housesitting. Beautiful spot, this is all the remains of the jetty that once stood here. Karri, sandalwood was shipped to England in early part of this century.

Holberry house in Nannup

Whilst in Nannup tucked away in a back street was Holberry house a B & B accommodation. Their gardens were open for inspection with a Mens Choir from Bunbury singing & entertaining the people strolling through the gardens looking at all the strange scupltures done by local artisans. Well worth a look.

Pixies hiding in the letterbox !!
