Housesitting in Perth

Well we are back in Perth after 3 weeks in Albany. What a lovely town. Plenty to see and do. Guess it gets very chilly in winter with the cold winds blowing straight up from Antartica. Brrr!

On way back to Perth it took us a week to cover about 400kms. Stayed in Albany on the last night to go dancing. Albany has a great dance scene, from ballroom, country and good old rock 'n roll.

At Boyup Brook, where they hold a country music festival every year, we decided to check out the "Harvey Dickson Country music/rodeo setup" on his farm about 5 kms from town.

OMG what a place! On one side of the road he has this huge arena setup for rodeos, camping, a bar with a beatup old rusty car on the roof, as well as an open area with a stage for concerts. Place down the back looked like I was in England at Stonehenge - only it was made out of massive trees. 40ft steel stick figures playing guitars watching the sunset.

Across the road at the homestead was the tin shed the most amazing place I have ever seen. This is where all the music action happens. Dirt floor, stage, dance floor, bars & the most unbelievable junk hanging from the tin roof. Anything from wooden legs, lawnmowers, bikes, drums, sewing machines, you name it and it's bound to be hanging somewhere on the roof!

But wait, that's not all! He has two rooms completely dedicated to "Elvis" and some of the older country music stars. I've never seen such a collection of records lining the walls of both rooms. Check it out!

And this one:

Would love to be there in September when the next music festival is on.... hmmm... think I will mark it on the calender!
