Northam to Merredin

Heading east from Northam towards Merredin. Some of the sites along the way.

Fountain at the Merredin railway station museum

Jan at the rabbit proof fence near Burracoppin. Not much left at this spot. 3 Fences were built from Esperance in south to Port Hedland in the north. Approx 1800kms long. When they had a really bad drought in 70's they found about 100,000 emus stopped by the fence.

Buckled railway line from the earthquake that hit the town of Meckering in October 1968

Ettamogah pub in a tiny rural town.

Witchwae at the rabbit proof fence

Water tank in Merredin

Bob playing signal man!!!

Pump station no 4 on the Golden pipeline from Mundaring in Perth hills to Kalgoorlie, some 650kms. When the water leaves Mundaring it takes 5.5 days in summer & 13.5 days in winter to reach Kalgoorlie.

Jan at the pipeline

Bob at pipeline

Free camping next to the pipeline. Spent the night with 2 road train drivers, 1 on his way to Leinster north of Kalgoorlie & the other one to Roxby Downs in SA. That's one hell've a drive. Didn't have a campfire we had a BONFIRE!!!
