National Motor Museum - Birdwood

Originally the site of the historic Birdwood mill built in mid 1800's. It's now home to the National Motor museum, which houses an extensive collection of Australia's motoring history. The museum is much more than a collection of vehicles. It is a social history of the way we were & the way we are now & the way of the future.

Tom Kruse truck was found on a station along the Birdsville track in 1980's, was finally restored & when Tom was 85 he did one final run from Birdsville to Birdwood museum. It was mentioned one the news couple nights ago that Tom has passed away @ the ripe old age of 95. Tom was a living legend in his lifetime, doing the mail run along the track from Maree to Birdsville in all type of weather & conditions. MAIL MUST GET THROUGH
