Tailem Bend

Weather has cleared today so we are off down the highway past Murray bridge to Tailem bend & beyond.

Just down the road @ Callington we found these wind things sitting in a paddock

Signal box @ Tailem bend railway station

Located at the junction of Dukes, Princes & Mallee highways. Tailem bend is a popular rest stop for drivers travelling from north, south-east or WA. The opening of Melbourne to Adelaide railway in 1886 saw Tailem bend become an important railway town. 96 kms from Adelaide & on the Murray river.

Old Tailem town is a replica village with more 100 buildings & 12 streets. Will have to come back another day & have a wander around, takes about 4 hours.

Very cold down here, wind blowing across the lake Albert. After lunch in the park @ Meningie we followed Lake Albert around to where the ferry crosses over the chanel where the 2 lakes meet Lake Albert & Alexandrina
