Kapunda

Kapunda is 1 hr drive from Adelaide. Copper was discovered here in 1838, by a sheep grazier named Francis Dutton, who stumbled across some "moss coloured stones".

"Map the Miner" 8 metre statue, greets visitors on the southern entrance to Kapunda, tribute to the copper miners

Sir Sidney Kidman, known at one time as the largest landholder in Australia made Kapunda home for 40 years. His horse sales were recognised as the largest in the world, supplying horses to the Light Horse Brigade.

Drovers run from TV series "McLeods daughters" was filmed in & around Kapunda.
