Parachilna & Prairie hotel

It's official population may be in the single digits but this town attracts the rich & famous. Parachilna is the hub for a growing number of movie makers drawn to this beautiful landscape. Famous visitors include actors Kate Winslet & Harvey Keitel during filming of "Holy Smoke". Australian rock star Paul Kelly & in 2008 Bryan Brown was here filming "Beautiful Kate".

Not a lot left of Parachilna railway station. Train spotting, sit with a beer on verandah of Prairie hotel & watch Australia's longest coal train go by as it makes it way from Leigh Creek to Port Augusta

Prairie hotel is an iconic outback pub, doing a roaring business, ripping off the tourists. Very pricey food & beer == $10 for 2 middies of beer!!! Ooch that hurts the pocket!!!!

Famous for the "Feral Food Platter" & Fargher Lager, the Prairie hotel offers the weary travellers, memorable food, wine & coffee @ a price!!!!

While we were slowly sipping on our cold beers, "Outback Spirit 4WD bus" turned up with a load of tourists for lunch @ pub, they had NO sooner left & another bus loaded arrived
