Kalgoorlie Miners Hall of Fame

View from Mt Charlotte overlooking Kalgoorlie. This is where the 650km Golden Pipeline from Perth to Kalgoorlie ends bringing fresh water to the Goldfields. The pipeline was built in 1890's & is still the longest water pipeline in the world. It was an amazing feat for it's time. The engineer CY O'Connor committed suicide a couple days before the water tap was turned on at Mt Charlotte, he thought he had failed, even with the pump houses all along the route. It still takes approx 5 days in summer & upto 13 days during winter from the time it leaves Perth & arrives here in Kalgoorlie
